Gallery Sale and Change of Plans

Oklahoma rarely gets a pretty Fall. Our leaves are pretty brown due to heat and drought before the shorter, cooler days start to turn them those pretty Autumn colors. Last week, I say a tree with yellow leaves and I thought "yay, we get a pretty Fall this year." Little did I know, Mother Nature had other plans.

It's said that if you don't like the weather in Oklahoma, just wait 15 minutes. Knowing this, Oklahoma weather still catches us by surprised. This Monday I woke up to what felt like colder temperature than the weather people had predicted. There was a bit of a drizzle, but nothing to fret. Then, we get a notice at school that there might not be school the next day due to freezing rain. I still thought that it wasn't likely because it had been too warm in the previous days and so the roads should be too warm for freezing.

So, the temperature got colder and the rain froze sticking to all those green leaves that were still attached to the trees. Then power started going out, as about half an inch of ice was sticking to leaves weighing down branches and electrical lines. For almost two days, we heard so much cracking, popping and thumping outside as trees branches were falling all over our 3 acres.

Luckily, the house is fine, we are well and although we are so sad to see our trees in such poor conditions, maybe it will be a good thing in the long run.

Spring bulbs have been arriving, and I've planting them, as I've cleaned up areas around the yard. This brings me something to look forward to this Spring. At the same time I received the bulbs, a kind collector mailed me a lovely Dutch glass vase that I know will look perfect with some of those parrot tulips I planted.

I had not planned having no power for over fours days when I planned to make prints available for today. As soon as the electricity came back on, I got back to work on them, but it's now 9:30 PM, and I still don't have them ready to make available. So, instead there will be an early 20% off gallery sale which will continue on the day the prints are available, as a thank you for your kindness and patience with me.

The prints are almost ready. Once they are posted later this week, I will add two new Chanel original paintings and prints of each.

Oh, while the lights were out, I got out sewing needles and started costume to honor one of my favorite artists, Artemisia Gentileschi. Finished it on the sewing machine once the electricity came back on, and am so excited about it.
